Dear Community Partners,

My name is Al Kinkle. I am the Founder and President of Kimmie’s Recovery Zone (KRZ). This organization was established to support individuals dealing with substance use disorder and mental health issues in the SWFL community. As a Recovery Community Organization (RCO), we are an independent, non-profit entity led and governed by representatives of local communities of recovery. Our activities include organizing recovery-focused policy advocacy, carrying out community education and outreach programs, and providing peer-based recovery support services. We also serve our community through our food pantry and linkage to resources such as treatment, housing, and other mainstream services.
My wife Debbie and I tragically lost our daughter, Kimmie, to an accidental overdose due to heroin laced with Fentanyl in December 2015. The rates of overdose particularly involving Fentanyl, continue to rise alarmingly. Now, preliminary 2022 CDC data shows a 2.8% decrease in Florida overdose deaths from 2021 to 2022. The CDC told PolitiFact that Florida had 7,827 overdose deaths in 2021 compared with 7,611 in 2022. Naloxone (Narcan), a nasal spray medication used to counteract the effects of an opioid overdose is saving lives. The KRZ team and I are dedicated to preventing other families from enduring this kind of loss. Since 2021, KRZ has distributed over 24,948 FREE doses of Narcan.
I am proud to share that Kimmie’s Recovery Zone has successfully advocated for the availability of Narcan within Lee County schools. This significant achievement was made possible through collaboration with the Lee County School Health Department and we are thankful for their support in carrying out this initiative. Over 100 school resource officers, along with school principals and nurses, were trained by KRZ in the use of Narcan, enhancing the safety and preparedness of our schools in emergency situations.

This year marks the inaugural “Kimmie’s Recovery Zone Charity Golf Classic,” at Spring Run Golf Club, 9501 Spring Run Blvd. Estero, FL 34135. This event is designed to bring our community together in support of this vital cause. We invite you and your business to participate in this event in several meaningful ways:

  1. Event Sponsorship: This is an opportunity for your business to gain visibility and recognition. We offer various sponsorship levels, each with unique benefits and promotional opportunities.
  2. Create a Foursome: Assemble a team of colleagues, friends, or clients for a memorable day of golf. It’s an excellent way for team building and networking, all while supporting a crucial cause.
  3. Sign Up as a Player: Join us as an individual player for a day of golf and community spirit. Your participation, regardless of your golfing skills, contributes significantly to our mission.
  4. Silent Auction Contributions: We are seeking unique items for our silent auction. Past contributions have included vacation packages, signed memorabilia, and more. These items are key to the success of our auction and directly support our initiatives.

If you are interested in contributing to our auction or learning more about how you can help, please contact our procurement team at laura@kimmiesrecoveryzone.org. Your contributions are invaluable to the continuation of our cause and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for considering our request and for your potential support in making a difference in our community.
Sincerely,

Al Kinkle
